Richard A. Bowers, M.D.
Dr. Bowers is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is Chairman of Sewickley Eye Group and is a clinical instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine.
Dr. Bowers has published heavily cited, peer reviewed articles and has lectured nationally. He is a director on the Board of Heritage Valley Health System and is an Emeritus Trustee on the Board at The College of Wooster in Ohio. He has been a keynote speaker at civic functions and in the public school system and was named Sewickley Herald’s Man of the Year.
Dr. Bowers resides with his wife, Miriam Rader in Sewickley, has three grown children, likes to sing, and gets most of his exercise doing “full-contact” gardening. He and his family have done mission trips in Sierra Leone, Kenya and Honduras, where he performed many eye surgeries.
